Bluefire® Laboratories
FILM PROCESSING and Photo Lab Services

These services have been temporarily discontinued while the laboratory is moved to a new location. Service should commence again after the middle of 2008.

Quick links to the information on this page

Please note that the "Add To Cart" links below take you away from the Frugal Photographer site to the Bluefire processing secure order form.

Film processing is handled in Calgary, so it must be ordered and paid for separately from Frugal Photographer orders (which are handled in Nampa, Idaho).

You can send us any kind, size, or type of film, no matter what its age and condition.

Please understand that Bluefire Laboratories offers small-batch hand processing of films which require extra attention or specialized chemistry. As such, Bluefire can not offer the low prices charged by conventional photofinishers.

We encourage you to save money and get faster service by having your fresh or recently outdated conventional films processed by an established minilab that is equipped for printing unusual sizes. Such labs may exist near you. The two labs linked on this page are recommended. Others can be located using a search engine such as Yahoo or Google.

Because Bluefire Laboratories processes film in batches, quick turnaround is not always possible. Normal turnaround time is one to four weeks in the laboratory, plus time required for mailing.

  • Minox,* 16mm, Disc,** "Hit," and other subminiature films
  • APS** and 35mm**
  • all standard roll film sizes,** including 127, 120, 220
  • "Brownie" films
  • 828, 620, 116, 616, 122 and other obsolete roll film sizes
  • Bolta, Rocamco, Rapid, Kamarette, Fotron, Fotochrome, and similar obsolete roll and cartridge films

  • one-time-use (disposable, or recyclable) cameras
  • sheet films up to 5"x7" (13x18mm)

If your film is not listed here, Bluefire Laboratories can probably process it. Just send us an e-mail and describe the film.

Bluefire Laboratories processes Ciba and Kodachrome (obsolete pre-K14 and modern K14) as black and white (click here for important information). You should send fresh or recently outdated K14 (Kodachrome) to Dwayne's Photo for color processing.

Bluefire™ Laboratories PROCESSING SERVICE
for standard or unorthodox film types and sizes

These services are primarily for old, obsolete or unusual films,
or for films of any type that have been degraded by the passage of time or poor storage conditions.
We also accept conventional films for these services — however, we encourage you to seek more economical alternatives for processing conventional films.

Results can not be guaranteed when processing old or damaged films.
